The Cahuita National Park: Snorkeling and Hiking Tour will take you to two areas in the national park, the coral reef, and the rainforest.
In the water section of this trip, you may see a breathtaking variety of sea life, including over 34 distinct species of corals, and 123 species of tropical fish, together with possible sightings of shrimps, lobsters, sponges, urchins, and starfish.
Your tour will start as you get on board of a 14-passenger boat that will take you straight to the coral reef offshore.
As they are local experts, your tour guide and skipper will choose among the best spots according to the weather and tides.
You will spend two hours in the water.
In the first part of the tour, your tour guide will give you a short safety and instructions briefing to immediately give you the snorkeling gear and start enjoying the amazing underwater world.
Some of the species of coral that can be observed on this trip are the light-yellow brain coral, elkhorn species, and the blue staghorn. Contemplate carrying submarine photo gear to record breathtaking schools of fish, together with barracudas, nurse sharks, angelfish, parrotfish, and stingrays, that are usually feeding in these spots.
Coral is an alive being, and a community grows only 7 inches yearly. Remember, your role here is only to observe and enjoy. As touching these creatures may harm them and even kill them.
As you finish the snorkeling part of the tour, you will enjoy a break with a cold bottle of water and fresh fruits.
Afterward, you will start the second part with a walk in the stunning Cahuita rainforests.
In the National Park, you may see three species of monkeys, two species of sloths, coatimundis, agoutis, anteaters, armadillos, and over 500 species of birds, including Yellow-Crowned Night Herons, Boat-Billed Night Herons, Green ibis, Swainson and Keel-Billed Toucans, and several kinds of Kingfishers.
