The Coffee Tour and Canopy Adventure is a combination of two of the most popular things for travelers in Costa Rica in one of the less known and most amazing regions of the Central Valley in the province of Heredia.
Upon these mountains, there are breathtaking primary cloud forests where the ziplining portion is enjoyed.
The property where the tour is done has 700 acres (300 hectares) set apart for conservation purposes, and it is at the foot of the Barva Volcano.
The canopy tour has 13 platforms and 11 cables suspended around huge oak trees, usual in old-growth forests. The cables go anywhere from 60 to 600 feet, and most of them are hanging in the canopy and go over magnificent waterfalls.
On the other hand, Britt Coffee Farm and processing plant is one of the most prominent and respected coffee companies in Central America.
You will start the tour by traveling to one of the tops of the Central Volcanic Mountain Range, the Barva Volcano to go in the cloud forest and enjoy the rush of adrenaline while flying in the woods using the 13 platforms and 8 cables hanging from massive tropical oak trees. But first, a natural history short guided walk along forested trails past beautiful waterfalls.
As you finish this part of the tour, you will go back to your transportation to go to the Britt coffee plantation and processing plant where you will delight in the coffee tour.
You will start in the gardens of coffee Britt and go into the plantation learning about the beans, the plant, and the traditions in a most dynamic way. Depending on the time of year, you may see the various stages of the coffee beans, as your guides tell you everything on coffee picking.
From the plantation, you will go into the roasting area. In this part of the tour, you will learn how the roasting of the bean makes the quality in the flavor, body, or aroma. As well as some of the best secrets in coffee packing and keeping.
You will also learn to distinguish a good cup from lesser quality coffee by tasting it the way the professionals do.
Finish the tour at a comfy theater where an entertaining and instructive play will
take you across the traditions, history, and legends of coffee in Costa Rica and the world.
Once this unique show is over, you will walk through lovely gardens to delight in a tasty buffet lunch.
At the end of the tour, you will have time to flavor and ask for some of the distinct blends to take back home.
