Hike through the lush rainforest of Corcovado National Park with a local naturalist expert. Corcovado is one of the most biologically intense places in the world as per National Geographic. This expedition leaves in early morning from hotels at Dominical and Uvita. The first leg is a combination of car and boat ride for approximately 1.5 hours to reach the San Pedrillo Ranger´s Station. During the boat ride, we will see the impressive mangroves of the Sierpe River and we will learn about its natural history before reaching the Pacific Ocean and border the villages of Drake Bay and San Josecito. The trails at San Pedrillo Station are mostly flat terrain, an easy walk, suitable for participants of different ages and physical conditions. This tropical forest is hot and humid and occasional rains fall throughout the year. This is the only location in Costa Rica where visitors can spot 4 different species of monkeys: White-Faced, Howler, Spider and Squirrel Monkeys as well as many species of birds such as scarlet macaws, tanagers and hawks. Mammals like tapirs and wild cats can be spotted with a bit of luck too. The first trail at the Station is one of the longest walks with a duration of approximately 1 to 2 hours. Lunch will be served upon returning to the Ranger Station before a second walk for approximately 1 hour, weather permitting. After the journey, passengers will be taken back to the hotels on a reverse mode the car and boat transportation logistic.
