At the Kéköldi, the guides will take you to the home of an indigenous family dedicated to the reproduction and conservation of the Green Iguana, a reptile species in danger of extinction, which, thanks to this type of projects, has seen a recent population’s recovering. The Kéköldi Indigenous Reserve is a biological and anthropological experience traveling an old highway and immersing in the jungle where most tourists don’t go. The path was the main road for the Kekoldi Bribri Community and other Indigenous tribes in the region for trading purposes.
A visit to a second family in the Bri Bri Indigenous Reserve will lead visitors to see a medicinal plant´s garden and a self-sustaining farm with explanations on the Cacao cultivation and Chocolate production. Cacao Trees are important pieces of the Bri Bri Culture since ancient times. These highly successful self-sufficient people believe in the old ways of listening to and respecting the balance of nature. After the end of these experiences, a waterfall is visited where visitors can refresh on pristine tropical waters and enjoy a snack based on seasonal fruits.
