The best time to enjoy the Ostional Turtle tour from Nosara is, in the turtle season, of course. Turtle nesting in Ostional goes from May to February with the summit in December.
Throughout these months, witnessing hundreds of turtles at night is very common.
A lucky possibility is a phenomenon that happens specifically from July to December, acknowledged as “arribadas,” it occurs randomly 4 to 10 times during this time and lasts 3 to 10 days each.
In the arribadas, thousands and even hundreds of thousands of Olive Ridley Turtles cover the beach all at once to lay their eggs.
You will visit the National Ostional Wildlife Refuge. This preserve was created in 1984 to protect the beach from illegal poachers taking the turtle eggs. This is a very significant Sea Turtle Conservation project.
You will start your tour when your tour guide and transportation pick you up at your hotel to take you to the Ostional Wildlife Refuge, The trip itself is an adventure as you will be driving on a nature surrounded gravel road.

During this tour, you will experience the Olive Ridley Sea Turtles in their natural habitat as they live this critical biological process.
In the climax of arribada, the probability of seeing sea turtles is 100%. During the remainder of the year, the possibility can go down to 75%.
From January to April, around 15,000 turtles’ surface over the extent of three days per month, while from July to December, the amount rises to nearly 200,000 turtles for five to six nights.
The way to Ostional from Nosara is part of this exciting trip. The gravel road, surrounded by nature, is an adventure itself.
