The Rincon de la Vieja Horseback riding tour will take you into a rare and diverse life system: the tropical dry forest.
The tropical dry forest occurs in areas that are warm all year round, that show an intense tropical seasonality. With strong dry periods that can last for several months.
These periodic droughts allow a set of conditions that permit a great variety of unique flora and fauna.
And even though they are not as biodiverse as a humid rainforest is, in the Rincon de la Vieja Horseback riding tour through the tropical dry forest you may be able to enjoy three species of monkeys, more than 300 species of birds, two types of deer, several sorts of rodents and reptiles and if lucky, a large cat.
The tour:
You will start the tour at the stables where your experienced local guides, will give you a helmet and a safety briefing with simple, yet essential instructions.
You will be on the renowned Guachipelin Lodge and cattle hacienda and as you ride you will witness the rough landscapes of this impressive ranch.
Going through the dry tropical forest, which in the rainy season can be amazingly luscious is fun.
But riding for 45 minutes to arrive in the beautiful Victoria Falls as it plunges 35 meters (115 feet) into the Colorado River it’s an unforgettable experience.
The canyon surrounding the waterfall has unique topography and vegetation and you will leave your horses to descend towards the river.
Enjoy the breathtaking Victoria Waterfall and if you like, take a swim in its pond at the bottom.
