Your Rio Celeste and Tenorio Volcano Hike tour will take you into a region of rainforests and raw nature.
Located in the North of Costa Rica, the Tenorio Volcano national park with 18,400 Hectares (45 400 acres) protects the area of the volcano, and the renowned light blue river and the most biodiverse forests of the North area of Costa Rica.
It has hundreds of species of mammals, birds, reptiles as well as a wide variety of trees and different plants.
This is a tour of pure nature, that will activate your body in a strenuous hike through the forest and allow you to see some magnificent natural wonders. You may also catch a glimpse of some of the varied wildlife of the park, like monkeys, sloths, coatimundis, or agouti pacas.
The trail is not paved, and it is important to bring sturdy hiking boots.
Your tour starts very early in the morning as your tour guide and transportation pick you up to take you through the scenic region of San Carlos and to the area of Bijagua, where the Tenorio Volcano National Park will open its secrets for you.
As you enter the National Park, your certified tour guide will talk to you about this off the beaten track region. You will probably delight in the stories of the ancient indigenous tribes of the area, as well as the legends of elves and fairies hidden in the forests of Rio Celeste.
Your tour will take you in a 7 kilometers trail through breathtaking forests into attractions such as “Teñideros,” the part of the National Park that gives the turquoise color to the river.
You will also visit the “Borbollones,” a natural spring of thermal waters amid the forest. As well as the “Blue Lagoon,” an amazing area where the light blue water lays still creating a very surreal green-blue landscape.
Last, but of course, not least, you will go down to the bottom of the magical Rio Celeste waterfall and its stunning blue pond. The landscape will bring you back to childhood fantasies of enchanted forests.
After the fantastic exercise, you will delight in a typical lunch at one of the delicious local restaurants.
