Curu Wildlife Refuge Naturalist Guided Tour is an experience that will fully reward nature lovers as it is wild, rare and remote.
The Curu Wildlife Refuge lies along the southern area of the Nicoya Peninsula. This reserve is small but has abundant wildlife. As a tour participant, you will walk a series of paths and know the flora and fauna that flourish in the reserve’s five ecosystems.
This preserve is just 208 acres (84 ha) but contains tropical dry and wet forests, marine zones, mangrove swamps, and farmland.
It also provides a key channel for migrant birds and animals.
Over 232 species of birds have been identified here (including motmots, Scarlet Macaws, and White-fronted Amazons), and sea turtles from time to time visit the beach.
Howler and capuchin monkeys can be seen dangling from branches, as well as other animals like coatimundis, armadillos, agoutis, among other elusive creatures.
Your guide will guide you along the paths (none of which are too exhausting) and highlight the natural history of the plants and animal species you encounter.
