Pozo Azul Horseback riding tour goes around a magnificent hacienda dedicated, among other activities, to the breeding of horses in the superb region of the Sarapiqui River.

The county of Sarapiqui is a beautiful place with an astounding variety in flora and fauna, with 448 types of birds, 142 species of mammals (among them three species of monkeys, two types of sloths and 70 species of bats and five of Costa Rica’s six wild cats) 102 species of reptiles and amphibians and even more are part of the fantastic things you may discover in this horseback riding tour.
You may also see in Pozo Azul some of their organic plantations, including banana, cardamom, cocoa, ornamentals, and pineapples. They also have an organic garden where you will find the usual restaurant ingredients.
On these two hours in the Pozo Azul Horseback Riding Tour, you will be going on a hard and fun topography that you will enjoy thoroughly. Your horse will also take you in pasture lands, rainforests, creeks, and rivers.
New riders are welcome, as the horses are well treated and behaved. They are prepared for this adventure and willing to support you in having a great experience.
If you are an experienced rider and want a more energetic sort of horse, please let us know in advance. As Pozo Azul is a horse breeding farm, they will have a perfect horse for you.
You will start the tour as you arrive in Pozo Azul and meet your horseback riding tour guides.
These are professional, certified tour guides that know the area of Sarapiqui like the palm their hands and will take you to the best spots.
You will then walk with them to the stables where the horses will be ready to mount. The tour guides will provide you with a helmet and a safety and instructions talk.
The ride starts on the gravel roads of the farm and then, afterward, passes to pasture and forest areas.
You can also walk the trails on the farm and see the many species of flora and fauna that contribute to this eco-friendly region.
The horses are healthy and robust and the saddle and horse gear are made with first quality Costa Rican leather.
